As you may or may not have noticed, our website has a space theme, and space contains countless planets, which sometimes have RINGS (the theme for this art jam!!). I think some kind of ring-related game or something was also released this year? It's a very relevant theme, I'd say.
This jam lasted from October 20th to 27th, and we also put a special spin on the idea - instead of just solo projects, we encouraged everyone to work on their ideas in groups!
As always, there weren't any specific rules - simply come up with a fun interpretation of the theme and then create whatever you want with it.
Thinking about rings quickly led to thinking about cycles for me. I thought a slow match cut hyperlapse - as it's apparently called - could convey the feeling of being stuck in a loop and looking for patterns in your day-to-day, almost as an escape. It ended up being an interesting way of showing the narrative: a work day, a night partying. The sound effects are really important for this to have worked. They make the images go from just that to these little vignettes of our main character's life. Some of them break the rhythm. I think as soon as you set up a rigid rule like that you kind of have to break it.

The “rings in rings in rings” hat can be worn in many ways. Your head can be transformed into a planet with a ring like saturn. Your head can be transformed into a halo. It can be transformed into a face mask. Choose which way you want to style your ring hat.
